ジェンダー主流化の好事例である「タンザニアキリマンジャロ農業技術者訓練センター計画フェーズ2」を対象に、同プロジェクトにおけるジェンダー主流化のための取り組みを紹介します。 具体例として、女性の参加を促すために研修参加者の男女比を半々に固定し、積極的な女性の参加を求めたこと、農業技術のほかに、改良かまどや家計管理など、女性が関心を持ちやすい研修コースを設けたことなどのポイントがわかりやすく解説されており、他のプロジェクトにおいてジェンダー配慮の視点を取り入れる際の参考として活用することが可能です。

This material introduces our efforts in the "Kilimanjaro Agricultural Training Centre Phase II Project Fields" as a good example of tackling the problem of streaming gender. Specifically, we produce exactly the same number of male and female joining workshops in order to promote women's participation. We also set up courses that are of particular interest to women, such as improved cooking stoves and home economics other than the agricultural technology course. This material can be used as a reference to propagate the idea of gender equality in other projects.


JICA Tsukuba Agricultural Technology package - How to Make and Use a Manual Winnower -




This material is made for use by JICA ex-training participants, JOCV and SV volunteers, and JICA experts, when they give instruction to farmers in developing countries. The structure are very easy to follow; it's possible to learn "How to Make and Use a Manual Winnower" just by watching and following the contents. Some techniques, which cannot easily be taught only through manuals, can be easily understood by various people through this audio-visual materials. The winnower is a tool used to separate the chaff, straw, and immature grain from rice or beans after harvest. In Japan, winnowers came to be used to separate rice in the latter half of of the 17th century in the Edo Period and made a great difference in the amount of labor required to separate post-harvest rice.


世界で輝く草の根の仲間 〜JICA草の根技術協力事業の現場から〜
Introduction to JICA Partnership Program (JPP)



JICA has been implementing the JCA Partnership Program (JPP) since 2002 in collaboration with Japanese development partners, mainly NGO's Local Governments, Universities. In order to promote the JPP through appropriate understanding of the program and cinditons, the film has been produced. The scenes from the selected JPP projects in Combodia, India and Kenya are being futured in the film.



JICA's Actions Toward Achieving the SDGs



Regarding Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs): like many actors already started their actions both within and outside Japan, JICA has been active in various areas through innovative approaches. This DVD contains JICA's actions and concrete practices toward achieving the SDGs, such as supporting formulating national SDGs plan in developing countires, partnership with private sector, volunteer activities in overseas and so on. The DVD also contains an animated cartoons that illustrate what is sustainable development. It will be welcome that JICA and people who are engaged in development assistance deepned their knowledge related to the SDGs. Furthermore, this material can be used for JICA's PR activivites in varitey of seminars, meetings and school teachings when the theme are related to the SDGs.



JICA Tsukuba Agricultural Technology Package - Manufacture and Usage of Manual rotary weeder for paddy -



This material is made for use by JICA ex-training participants, JOCV and SV volunteers, and JICA experts, when they give instruction to farmers in developing countries. The structure are very easy to follow; it's possible to learn "Manufacture and Usage of Manual rotary weeder for paddy"just by watching and following the contents. Some techniques, which cannot easily be taught only through manuals, can be easily understood by various people through this audio-visual materials.



交通需要予測とJICA STRADA(交通需要予測パッケージ)


本教材は、JICA STRADAを用いた交通需要予測を実施するうえで必要な基本的知識をまとめたものであり、交通需要予測とは何か、需要予測にはどのような手法があるのか、需要予測に付随する外生条件の予測はどうするのか、そして需要予測関連ソフトウェアはどのように利用されているのかについて説明したものです。

Promoting girls' education in countries where the gender gap is especially extreme in primary education attendance. What approaches are possible, and what needs to be taken into consideration? This material uses the example of the “Broadening Regional Initiative for Developing Girls’ Education (BRIDGE) Program in Taiz”in Yemen to introduce gender mainstreaming in the field of education. The project was managed to ascertain the situation in each school by Taiz Education office’s Director for Girls Education and took a number of activities in consideration of Yemen traditions and customs, such as using religious messages, carrying out meeting with fathers and with mothers, enhancing residents’ understanding of girls’ education through the empowerment of mothers and improving the school environment by constructing separate boys ‘and girls ‘toilets. The project helped improve the school attendance of both boys and girls, as well as changing attitudes of residents in the area. This material carefully sets out the lessons to be taken away from this project, and how they can be adapted.

"HIV/AIDS" is deeply concerning with sexual activities of mankind, on the other hand, it has tendency of discrimination and prejudice. Not only as measures against the infection, but also reinforcement toward cross-sectoral comprehensive activity is requested, and correct understanding is required to all of the people. Especially in the area of infection, the person working with JICA will have many occasion of direct accessing with AIDS infected people, need to understand how to respond against patient distress. In other projects of health-medical fields which do not target on AIDS protection, activities with contribution for HIV/AIDS protection are required to be included into the projects.

この教材は、日本発の農村開発アプローチとして、日本の戦後の生活改善運動を概観し、日本の援助関係者が推進する援助業務の参考とすることを目的に制作しました。現在、各プロジェクトの中で生活改善のコンポーネントとして取り入れいる生活改善活動アプローチが単なる導入活動でしかない「改良かまど」が、社会的コンテクストを考慮しないまま採りいれられたり、収入向上が優先される目標であるとの理解から、生活改善と称して一挙に食品加工や手工芸を導入する向きがあります。 生活改善アプローチを正しく理解していただくために、日本の生活改善運動についての5つのキーワード(農村開発、貧困削減、生産と生活の両建ての働きかけ、参加型開発、行政と住民のシナジー)に基づき、生活改善活動へのアプローチ事例を通じて、理解を深められるよう構成しました。

This material was made for Japanese organizations that help developing countries as a reference for their assistance work. Currently, in each livelihood improvement project, there is a tendency to introduce improved kamados, as just an input activity, without considering the social context, and handicraft or food processing are introduced as a livelihood improvement project just because income improvement is the main objective. Therefore, this material is designed to deepen the understanding through example cases based on 5 key ideas: farm village development, poverty reduction, production activities compatible with the target group's lifestyle, participatory development, and synergetic effects between administrations and residents.

この教材の目的は、JICAによる技術協力事業の一環として、開発途上国における廃棄物の3R(Reduce(排出抑制)、Reuse(再利用)、 Recycle(再生利用))に関する人材育成に活用することです。中央政府の廃棄物行政担当者、地方自治体の廃棄物対策実務担当者、NGO、民間企業関係者を対象に、資源の限られる開発途上国において廃棄物の適正処理を実現するためには廃棄物の減量が不可欠であり、その鍵になるのが3Rの推進であることが理解できます。日本の取り組みと開発途上国のケーススタディを紹介し、3Rの共通理解、啓発普及用の映像型教材です。

Purpose/ As the amount of waste increases, the environmental burden rises and waste reduction has become pressing need.This provides you with the clue to the significance of 3R trough training (domestic/abroad), and practicing 3R through example of Japanese approach.



技術協力コンテンツ「日本の農民参加型灌漑管理組織」  Contents of Technical Cooperation "PARTICIPATORY IRRIGATION MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATIONS IN JAPAN"



This Content aims to contribute to transfer of participatory irrigation management (PIM) technologies to developing countries by introducing the structure and functions of the Land Improvement District (LID), a PIM organization in Japan. Since it is impossible to cultivate paddy-rice in rain-fed paddies in Japan because of the meteorological and hydrological constraints, irrigation is essential for wet-rice cultivation. Consequently, irrigation has been practiced since wet-rice cultivation was established in the late Jomon Period. Irrigation facilities presumably used by more than one farmer have been unearthed at many archeological sites. This fact suggests the existence of organizations to manage the operation and maintenance of these irrigation facilities in ancient times. In other words, the Content explains PIM systems in Japan which has been developed and improved throughout its long history using the internationally praised system of “Land Improvement Districts,” the most important water users’ organizations in Japan today, including a traditional hierarchy of local farmers’ irrigation management organizations which support the LID system.

This material is designed for individuals undertaking environmental education, especially those in developing countries. To conserve our irreplaceable natural environment, environmental education that shows people their connection to nature and helps them discover the importance of conserving the natural environment is necessary. This material shows a variety of environmental eucation programs in an easy way to understand and practice. This material looks at JICA's work related to Chagas disease, which is rife in Central and South America. It examines projects undertaken in Honduras and El Salvador. Japanese experts and the JOCV worked with their local counterparts. Many groups-medical professionals, health volunteers, local communities and schools-were involved.
How did these various groups come together? And how did they execute successful, sustainable projects?
This material looks at these questions.



For Safe and Happy Childbirth:JICA's Approach to Humanized Maternity Care



This material explains JICA's Humanized Maternity Care approach in the field of maternal and child health, through the projects in Brazil and Cambodia.The material was created to publicize and disseminate the Humanized Maternity Care Approach which was started in Brazil in 1996. To date, JICA has brought such Humanized Maternity Care projects, which focus on improving midwifery care, to 8 countries. Suggested uses for this material include university lectures, symposiums, seminars and training sessions in Japan and abroad. Besides, this program is good for the general public to think about happy childbirth.



Endogenous Regional Development through Community Initiatives)


地域固有の資源(自然、人的、物的、金融、社会関係資本等)をベースとして、地域固有の伝統、文化、培かわれた技術を活用しながら、地域住民の主導により進められる持続可能な発展パターンを内発的地域開発(Endogenous Regional Development, EnRD)と呼び、これに対して、地域外の資源・資本を導入して主に工業化を目指す発展パターンを、外発的地域開発(Exogenous Regional Development, ExRD)と呼びます。この教材「地域主体の内発的地域開発」は、大分県旧大山町、大分一村一品、大分県旧湯布院町、岐阜県旧明宝村、愛知県旧足助町、北海道池田町といった日本の代表的な事例を通じて、内発的地域開発のプロセスをわかりやすく紹介しています。

The process of regional development promoted by the initiative of local people using local resources, including natural, human, physical, and financial resources, and social capital, based on local culture, traditions, and skills is referred to as Endogenous Regional Development (EnRD), while the process of regional development promoted by governments utilizing outside resources with legal controls and technical innovation is called Exogenous Regional Development (ExRD). This material introduces the process of EnRD by presenting Japanese case examples, including that of former Oyama Town, Oita Prefecture; One Village One Product Movement(OVOP); former Yufuin Town, Oita Prefecture; former Meiho Village, Gifu Prefecture; Ikeda Town, Hokkaido Prefecture; and former Asuke Town, Aichi Prefecture.

This multimedia-based learning material "Efforts to Improve Rural Sanitation 〜Sustainable Project Formulation〜" gives the basic knowledge on the trend of assistance and shows the notes at the time of the project formulation, for those who participate in the rural sanitation and hygiene sector, and eventually guide you through your future works. This material basically targets the people working on the rural sanitation and hygiene fields in the developing countries, but also hopes to be of help for the aid parties in the similar projects as the self-study and the technical training tools.



Building a Flood-Resilient Nation


本教材では、@日本の洪水対策、A災害からの復旧・復興、BJICAの防災協力事例、をご紹介します。JICAは、日本の洪水対策に係る知識・経験を活かし、抑止減災、事前準備、応急対応、復旧・復興まで、シームレスな防災協力に取り組んでいます。 本教材では、JICAの防災協力の背景にある日本国内の河川整備の考え方、「平成27年9月関東・東北豪雨」における復旧・復興の取り組み等を通じ、事前投資の重要性を国内外の防災協力関係者に効果的に伝えることを期待しています。

This material describes (a)flood control measures in Japan, (b)response, recovery and "Build Back Better", and (c)JICA's assistance in flood control.JICA provides assistance to enhance risk management capabilities in each stage of the disaster management cycle-that is, "Prevention and mitigation," "Preparedness," "Emergency response" and "Rehabilitation and recovery." This material aims to share the knowledge and experience in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and to convey the importance of pre-investment in flood control.



Extension of Organic Agriculture Techniques for Assistance to Small Scale Farmers' Groups


本コンテンツでは、伝統的農業の再評価、内部資源循環、生産者と消費者の関係構築、「考える農民」の育成などに焦点をあて、小規模農民と共有できる教訓が取りまとめられています。 小規模農民が圧倒的な多数を占める途上国において、地域資源を有効利用する有機農業のニーズは高く、多くの地域で普及・試行が実践されています。しかしながら、資機材などの投入が限られた小規模農民を対象とした有機農業技術の開発は十分とは言えず、また脆弱な農業普及制度・体制の下、有機農業に取り組む小規模農民の自立的な発展を促す支援が求められています。本コンテンツが途上国の支援に携わる方々に活用され、小規模貧困農民支援の一助になれば幸いです。

In the developing countries, where small scale farmers occupy an overwhelming majority, the needs of organic farming are high and its trials are practiced in various regions, because of its effective practical use to local resources. However, it may be said that development of the organic farming technology is poor for the small scale farmers, who do not have enough mechanics or materials. So it is demanded to support their sustainable development in the viewpoint of organic farming system. This Contents focus on the relations construction of a relationship between producers and consumers, upbringing of "thinking farmers", and the lesson can be shared with small scale farmers are compiled.
