About JICA-Net

JICA-Net is distance technical cooperation promoted by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). It is a new scheme for international cooperation to complement JICA's technical cooperation using a wide range of information and communication technologies such as video conferencing, multimedia contents and internet applications.
JICA-Net embodies the concept of IT base establishment at 30 locations in developing countries that was described in "The Comprehensive Cooperation Package to Address the International Digital Divide" that came out of the Kyushu-Okinawa Summit in July, 2000. JICA-Net was established as a means of 1) improving efficiency 2) improving quality, and 3) expanding opportunities in international cooperation.
